Purpose and Objectives

The Swiss Network of Female Historians is an association for the promotion of women* in the historical sciences, which was formed in 2019 as a non-profit organization. The association serves to network female* historians in Switzerland who are active in scientific or in private sector, in administration or independently and advocates gender parity in the historical sciences at all academic and other professional levels.

According to the association's statutes, the aims are to establish a network from which female* historians can benefit, to organize conferences and workshops at which female* historians can network and enter into cooperation, to provide important and up-to-date information on the state of research, free career strategy advice and mentoring, and to cooperate with organizations in research, the private sector and administration. In addition, a blog is to be established on which female* historians can publish their work and make it visible. The promotion of digital history is a core concern of the association, because this field of research is gaining in importance in the historical sciences and it is essential that female* historians who work with digital history position themselves centrally in it.

We would also like to establish low-threshold vessels for networking. For example, at regular intervals, a network lunch in various cities in Switzerland should offer female* historians the opportunity for exchange in an informal setting.
